Policy of Trustees.

Support of institutions and organisations, usually registered charities, specialising in music in a social or therapeutic context. Music and special needs. A few children and young people’s welfare organisations, preferably for arts activities. Otherwise organisations, which are supported outside these areas, are usually known to the Trustees and/or are in the South West. Some grants each year are given outside these main policy objectives. New recipients are included each year, but a good proportion of grants are recurring.

Restrictions.

Grants to individuals and students exceptionally rare, usually already known. No support for areas which are the responsibility of statutory funding. No support given to purely professional music/arts promotions. No support for purely medical research charities.

A very strong preference for the South West, otherwise UK

Applications.

By letter to be received before 1 October each year, ideally early September (especially for new applicants). No application form. Applications should include purpose for grant, indication of history and viability of the organisation, and summary of accounts. E-mail addresses will receive a response.
