General Charitable Purposes.
Support of institutions and organisations, usually registered charities, specialising in music or the performing arts in a social or therapeutic context. Music and special needs. A few children or young people’s welfare organisations, preferably for arts activities in the South West. Otherwise, a developing interest in Environmental issues and Sports and Children in the North of England. New recipients are included each year but a good proportion are recurring. Grants to individuals and students are exceptionally rare, usually to those already known. No support for areas which are the responsibility of statutory funding. No support given to purely professional music or arts promotions. No support for pure medical research charities.
Capital or revenue. One-off or recurring.
A strong preference for the South West of England and the North(see above).

£250-2,000 - Occasionally more.
By letter to be received before 1 October each year, ideally early September for new applicants. No application form. Applications should include purpose for grant, indication of history and viability of the organisation, and summary of accounts. SAEs will receive a response. Any grants will normally be paid early December each year.
